Police officer has blood spat in their face as they try and arrest man in Didsbury

A police officer was spat in the face as they tried to arrest a man in south Manchester earlier this week.

On Thursday morning at around 10.20am, police on a routine patrol in Didsbury stopped a vehicle.

The occupant of the vehicle then attempted to flee the scene, but officers were able to detain the man.

While trying to make an arrest, an officer had blood spat in their face.

To ensure the safety of all involved, officers then deployed their taser and arrested the man.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and assaulting an emergency worker,” GMP said in a statement.

“He remains in police custody for questioning.”

A quantity of suspected drugs were seized.

Two officers involved in the arrest later attended hospital as a precaution.

Enquiries are ongoing.
