A police officer has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of a woman in a hotel.
James Riley was a serving police officer at Lancashire Police. The 27-year-old appeared at Manchester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Monday (December 19), reports the Manchester Evening News.
He previously appeared before Magistrates last month, on November 14. Riley appeared at Crown Square in Manchester where he pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempted murder.

Greater Manchester Police said they were called at around 11.30pm on November 10 to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman at a hotel on Upper Brook Street in Manchester.
Riley, of Jepps Avenue, Preston, was later arrested and charged with attempted murder days later on November 13. He has been remanded in custody and is to face trial on April 24 at Manchester Crown Square next year.
