A police officer was attacked after a group of scrambler bike thugs terrorised Newsham Park.
Officers were called to the area at about 3.35pm on Monday to reports a group of scrambler bikes were riding through the park.
Merseyside Police said that witnesses reported "a number" of scrambler bikes were in the public space, behaving in "an anti-social manner".
Photos from the scene showed a police presence at the park as they tried to deal with the gathering.
Under current lockdown restrictions, people from different households are only allowed to meet up in groups of two for exercise.
While carrying out a search of the park, an officer was attacked.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the force confirmed that a 21-year-old man from Wavertree had been arrested.
.It said: "We were called to Newsham Park at 3.35pm today, Monday 15 th February, following reports a number of off-road/scrambler bikes were been ridden in an antisocial manner.
"Patrols attended and carried out a search of the park.
"A 21 year-old man from the Wavertree area has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and is currently in custody.
