A police officer was attacked as he broke up a fight in Liverpool city centre last night.
Crowds of people gathered on Richmond Street near to Whitechapel, at around 6.20pm on Sunday, August 29, where the violent scenes unfolded.
Witnesses described seeing a large police presence in the area outside the Olive Branch restaurant.

A 52-year-old man was left with cuts and bruises after he was assaulted.
A 49-year-old man also suffered a suffered a small cut to his head.
Police at the scene administered first aid and both men were taken to hospital before returning home.
Merseyside Police said a male police officer was assaulted during the incident.
A police spokesperson said: "A 22 year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. She is currently in custody.
