Police officer and woman rushed to hospital after road smash involving cop car in Glasgow

A cop and a woman were treated in hospital after a road crash in Glasgow involving a police car.

Police said the pair were taken to the city’s Royal Infirmary following Sunday’s smash in the Mount Florida area.

The woman was in the second vehicle involved in the smash.

It's understood neither suffered serious injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said “Around 11.15am on Sunday, we received a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a police car on Aikenhead Road, Glasgow.

“A 32-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man have been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

“Officers are assisting with traffic management in the area.”

The south side road was closed for a number of hours at the junction of Prospecthill Road following the collision.

Glasgow City Council said the road re-opened at 2.10pm.
