A cop has died after a car rammed into two police officers in the US Capitol.
A suspect drove the vehicle into the officers before lunging at them with a knife.
He was then shot outside the Capitol building in Washington DC and later died from his injuries.
US authorities now say a police officer has died as a result of the incident.
We previously told how the US Capitol is currently on lockdown and both police officers were rushed to hospital.
The suspect was also transferred to a medical facility but later died.
Dozens of police cars, marked and unmarked, raced toward the Capitol building.
All roads leading to the complex were blocked by cops.
The attack happened as authorities began removing the outer ring of high, razor-wire-topped fencing erected around the sprawling Capitol complex after an attack on January 6 by thousands of supporters of then-President Donald Trump.
