Police officer allegedly struck in the head while checking on noisy party

A police officer has allegedly been hit in the head and had his uniform ripped while following up on a noise complaint about a party north of Adelaide.

Police called to the Davoren Park property just before 12.45am were met by a number of intoxicated people.

They identified the owner of the Pilsdon Street home and tried to speak with him about the noise, but he refused to provide his details.

When police attempted to arrest him, a second man intervened and pushed an officer into a fence.

More patrols arrived at the house to arrest both men, but one of them allegedly struck an officer in the head and ripped his uniform during a scuffle.

Defensive spray was used and both men were eventually arrested, while no-one was injured in the incident.

A 43-year-old Davoren Park man was charged with assaulting an emergency worker, property damage, cause environmental nuisance, failing to comply with a direction and resisting arrest.

He has been refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The other man, a 35-year-old from Davoren Park, was charged with hindering police and has been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
