Police officer accused of using 'racist language' after stop and search

A serving Merseyside Police officer will face a disciplinary hearing accused of using "racially derogatory" language while on duty.

It is alleged the PC used a "racially derogatory epithet" after stopping and searching a member of the public.

The officer, named as PC Lawrence, is alleged to have made the comments on August 14 this year.

The force said Constable Lawrence had completed a stop and search of a man prior to the allegation.

It is then alleged he used a racially derogatory "epithet" while speaking to a colleague.

The male had been searched on suspicion of drugs offences.

Constable Lawrence now faces a police misconduct hearing, which is due to go ahead later this month on Wednesday, November 18.
