A $50,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the arrest of a man on the run for almost a week after a double stabbing in northern Tasmania.
Police "strongly believe" there may be a person or people harbouring 44-year-old Kerry Whiting since he allegedly broke in to a Launceston house on November 25.
A man, aged in his 30s, was stabbed and died at the home, while a woman, also in her 30s, is being treated at Launceston General hospital after too being attacked.
Whiting knew the pair, police say.
It is hoped the reward, announced on Wednesday, will sway those potentially helping him evade police to contact Crime Stoppers.
"$50,000 is a life-changing amount of money that we believe could entice a person to change their allegiances and be the motivation they need to come forward," Commander Stuart Wilkinson said in a statement.
That person could still be eligible for the cash even if they report anonymously, Mr Wilkinson added.
Anyone who sees Whiting is asked not to approach him and call police immediately on triple zero.
