Police no longer investigating death of boy, 2, who died at Gateshead home

The death of a little boy who passed away at a Tyneside home is no longer being investigated by police.

Emergency services were called to a house on Gateshead's Leam Lane estate at about 8.40am on Saturday, September 25.

They had received a report that a two-year-old child had become unresponsive.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Northumbria Police launched an investigation into the death.

But the force has not confirmed its enquiries are complete.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “We have carried out a full and thorough investigation into this tragic incident, and are treating the child' s death as non-suspicious. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.”

Last week a small collection of tributes could be seen hanging on the fence in front of the home.

Along with bouquets of flowers a small teddy, a Peppa Pig toy and a cuddly Paw Patrol to were tied to the fence.

A handwritten note attached to one bouquet read: "Rest in peace beautiful boy.

"We will love and miss you forever and always. You were perfect in every way. Sleep tight baby."
