A man has been charged after armed officers surrounded a home.

There was a huge police presence in Wirral on Saturday afternoon following reports of a suspect allegedly refusing to come out of his home.

Speaking to the ECHO on Saturday, the force said it was called to Grange Road West in Birkenhead, in response to a report of an assault.

Once there, officers said the suspect refused to come out of the house.

On Monday, a spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said a man was arrested at the scene after an armed containment was put in place.
