Police name man who died following Larkhall disturbance

A Lanarkshire mum has hailed her 'darling son' after he died following a disturbance in Larkhall.

Police have made an arrest in connection with the death of David Devine, of Bellshill, following an incident in Larkhall last Friday.

Around 10.30pm on Friday, August 20, emergency services were called to a report of a man being injured in the Glen Avenue area of Larkhall.

The 40-year-old was taken to the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank and died on Sunday, August 29.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death.

David's mother said: "We are in deep mourning because of the tragic and sudden loss of my darling son. I sincerely request that our privacy is respected at this time."

A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and he was due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 31.
