Nipsey Hussle murder: Police name Eric Holder as suspect as multiple mourners injured at vigil for rapper

The Los Angeles Police department has named a suspect in the investigation into the murder of rapper Nipsey Hussle.

Eric Holder, 29, is wanted on suspicion of murder after the 33-year-old's death, police confirmed.

He was last seen in a white 2016 Chevrolet Cruze driven by an unidentified woman moments after the shooting in south Los Angeles, police added.

The development in the investigation comes as multiple mourners of Hussle's have been injured, with some reportedly stabbed, as fans gathered to pay tribute in a vigil.

At least two people were critically injured and 10 others hurt after a stampede while hundreds gathered to pay their respects to the Grammy-nominated rapper, who was shot and killed on Sunday.

There were initial reports of shots fired in a crowd gathered outside Hussle's clothing store in south Los Angeles, where the musician died.

But Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said on Twitter: "Reports of shots fired at the vigil do not appear accurate."

The Los Angeles Times said several people were stabbed after a fight broke out at the vigil. These reports have not been confirmed by police as of yet, though.

A local ABC news station reported on Twitter: "A HUGE stampede of people rushed out of the @NipseyHussle memorial area. People thought they heard something break or a loud noise and started running."

A spokesperson for the police was not immediately available early Tuesday to elaborate on what happened.

Hussle, 33, whose real name is Ermias Asghedom, was shot multiple times Sunday afternoon and rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He died from gunshots to the head and chest, a coroner confirmed.

Two other people were wounded in the shooting.

Following the 33-year-old’s death, tributes flooded in from the music world.

Beyonce was among those to pay tribute to Hussle, who was nominated for the best rap album Grammy earlier this year for Victory Lap.

She shared a childhood picture of Hussle to Instagram, along with the caption: "I'm praying with every ounce of my heart for your family. Rest In Peace, Nipsey."

Rhianna, Drake and Nas also posted tributes to Hussle.
