Police have named the 15-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in east London on Friday night as Joel Adesina.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and said they have released an 18-year-old who had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who saw a fight that broke out between one group of youths on foot, including Adesina, and another group in a car. Police said they believed his stabbing happened immediately after the altercation in Padbury Court, Bethnal Green.
Detective chief inspector Chris Jones of the homicide and major crime command said: “Anyone who may have witnessed this altercation or have information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact the police as soon as possible.”
The Metropolitan police said they were called by London Ambulance Service on Friday night and officers found Adesina suffering from serious stab injuries to the abdomen.
Police said they have informed Adesina’s next of kin. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course, officers said on Sunday.
