Police name Ayrshire man killed in horror crash with HGV

A man has died following a horror road crash in Ayrshire.

Police have confirmed that Girvan man William Horne died after being seriously injured in a crash on Ladywell Avenue near to the junction with the B741.

The 64-year-old's Renault van collided with an HGV on Friday, October 15 at around 9.20am and he was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Police said today that Mr Horne died in the hospital on Wednesday, October 20.

His family is aware and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Cops tasked with looking into the incident say that the circumstances surrounding the crash continue to be investigated.

Sergeant Craig Beaver of Ayrshire's road policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Mr Horne's family at this sad time.

"We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and would ask anyone who has not yet come forward with information to get in touch with police.

"We're also keen to hear from motorists with dash-cam footage from the road between 9.10am and 9.30am to come forward.

“Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting incident 0762 of 15 October.”
