Police name 37-year-old man who died in horror crash on Scots road

A man who died in a crash on a Scots road has been named as Simon Johnson.

The incident occurred on the A965 at Deepdale near Stromness in Orkney at around 8.10am on Friday, March 4.

The 37-year-old was the driver and sole occupant of a green Vauxhall Astra, which was the only vehicle in the collision.

Tragically, Simon, from Northern Ireland, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, Police Scotland confirmed.

Sergeant David Miller of the Highland and Islands Road Policing unit said:

“We are still appealing to anyone who may have information about the crash to come forward, especially those who may have dashcam footage from the road around the time of the incident.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 0537 of Friday, 4 March.”
