Police name 27-year-old woman who was killed in crash on A194 in Washington

Police have confirmed the identity of a woman who died following a crash on the A194 in Washington.

Emergency services were called to reports that a silver Audi S3 had crashed into a tree between the A195 and A182 slip roads at 10.37pm on Saturday, October 3.

Police and paramedics attended the scene where a passenger was found dead inside the vehicle.

Police have now revealed the woman who died was 27-year-old Gateshead woman Lois Davidson. Her family are being supported by family liaison officers.

The 35-year-old male driver and a 26-year-old female passenger remain in a critical condition in hospital.

A 33-year-old male passenger was also taken to hospital following the collision but has since been discharged.

The A194 westbound was closed for more than five hours to allow crash scene investigators to assess the area and a clear-up operation to take place.

An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the collision, and police are now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

Sergeant Pinner Rana, of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols Department, said: "Our thoughts go out to Lois’ family and friends at this awful time.

"We will continue to offer them any support they need as they try to come to terms with their devastating loss.

"We are determined to get answers for Lois’ family and understand the circumstances surrounding the collision. We are therefore asking anybody with information to please come forward and speak to us.

"If you were travelling in the area at that time, check your dashcam footage and let us know if you saw a silver Audi S3. Your information, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be, could be crucial in providing Lois’ family with the answers they deserve.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact us via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting log 1088 031020.
