Police manhunt as woman is punched in face on London Overground train

Police have launched a manhunt after a woman was punched in the face on a London Overground train.

British Transport Police said a woman was assaulted at 1.45am on July 7 as the train approached New Cross Gate station in south-east London.

The woman, who is in her 20s, suffered bruising to her eye in the attack.

Officers have now released an image of a male suspect as they appeal for information.

Anyone who knows him is asked to contact officers by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 54 of July 7, 2019.

Meanwhile, police are also appealing for information after a man was hit over the head with a hammer and pushed onto railway tracks at All Saints DLR station in Poplar.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was targeted at about 10.43pm on Monday.
