Police make more attempted murder arrests after shots fired during brawl

Police have made three further arrests after gunshots were fired during a 20-strong brawl in Widnes.

Two men, aged 32 and 33, previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder have been released pending further investigation.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said officers have now arrested three further men, aged 24, 47 and 52, on suspicion of attempted murder.

They are being held in police custody.

Armed police descended on Factory Lane alongside their Widnes neighbourhood colleagues after reports of a serious incident at around 12.30pm on Monday.

They discovered a “dispute” involving around 20 people.

“I’d like to reassure the local community that, from our initial investigation, we are confident this is an isolated incident.

“As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information which may aid our investigation.

“We’d specifically like to hear from anyone who was driving in the Factory Lane and Derby Road area around the time of the incident and may have any dashcam footage.
