Police make grim discovery of body of man in Allanton

Police have confirmed they discovered the body of a man in Allanton.

Officers confirmed they had made the grim discovery in the Allanton area at around 6pm on Thursday, August 20.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of missing Carluke man Neil MacFarlane has been informed.

A post-mortem will be carried out in due course and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.

Neil, 52, was last seen in the Braemar Crescent area of Carluke around 2.30pm on Wednesday.
