Police make direct appeal to missing man John Woodman after days of searching

Police searching for a missing man have called out to him directly on behalf of his family.

John Woodman has been missing since Friday evening (May 22). He was last seen leaving Spring Vale Drive, in Tottington, Bury.

The 56-year-old left behind his bank card and mobile phone. His car was later found at the Black Bull Inn, in Edgworth, close to the Wayoh and Entwistle reservoirs.

Divers have spent the last two days searching the water. Emergency crews combing the area they have returned today (Sundauy) to continue the search.

Now Bury Chief Inspector Jane Morgan has issued an appeal directly to Mr Woodman asking him to contact the police.

“John’s family and ourselves are understandably concerned for him so we would like to appeal directly to John or anyone else with information about his whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible," she said.

"Members of the public may have seen teams of specialist officers carrying out extensive enquiries and searches.

"Whilst these are ongoing, I would encourage anyone who is out and about to contact police without delay if they see or hear anything which may assist us.”

Mr Woodman is described as being approximately 6ft 2in tall and of a medium build.

He may be wearing a yellow t-shirt, blue tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Anyone with information about John’s whereabouts is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8163.
