Police make arrests after violent Hawks Nest attack

SCENE: The Hawks Nest home where two men were stabbed.

TWO men will front court on Friday after being arrested in relation to a violent home invasion at Hawks Nest last month.

Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District arrested a 22-year-old and 46-year-old in Gosford about 11am on Thursday.

When police searched the home in Sinclair Street, they allegedly found numerous knives, a homemade shive, a machete, a homemade shotgun with ammunition, and an amount of drugs.

The men were taken to Gosford Police Station where the 46-year-old man was charged with breach of bail, two counts of breaching an AVO, two counts of intimidation, and special aggravated enter with intent (wound).

The 22-year-old man was charged with firearm offences, drug possession and special aggravated enter with intent (wound).

Both men were refused bail and will appear in Gosford Local Court on Friday.

The arrests come after a violent home invasion in Hawks Nest, where a 78-year-old man and his 53-year-old son were attacked on Booner Street, where they both suffered stab wounds before being taken to hospital.

Neighbours told the Newcastle Herald of the harrowing attack, which allegedly took place about 10.30pm on June 30.
