Police lock down Motherwell train station amidst ongoing incident

Motherwell train station has been locked down by police amid an ongoing disturbance.

Police Scotland confirmed they were called to the scene around 8.37pm.

It is thought that emergency services are still on the scene.

At present the nature of the incident is not clear.

Scotrail tweeted: “We've received reports of an ongoing incident in the Motherwell area.

“We're working closely with the emergency services at this time and will update you once we have more information from the grounds.

“Services via Motherwell are being delayed or altered as a result.”

Police Scotland, British Transport Police and Scotrail have been contacted for comment.
