Police lock down Maryhill streets after sudden death of person in Stirrat Street area of Glasgow

Police have locked down a number of streets in Maryhill after the sudden death of a person.

Officers were called to Stirrat Street in Maryhill at around 3.25pm this afternoon.

They say they are responding to reports of a 'sudden death'.

Eyewitnesses in the area report a heavy police presence and a large number of officers in the area.

Pictures show police cars and a road taped off with a police cordon.

Stirrat Street is reported to be locked down as officers investigate.

The identity of the deceased and the circumstances of their death are currently unknown.

Enquiries are ongoing and more information will follow.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.25pm on Wednesday, 3 December, officers were called to a report of a sudden death in the Stirrat Street area of Glasgow. Enquiries into the circumstances are at an early stage."
