Police lock down Hamilton street after 'disturbance' leaves one person in hospital

Police have cordoned off a Hamilton cul-de-sac after a 'disturbance' that has left a man in hospital.

Officers swooped on Albert Terrace after the alarm was raised at 10.15am.

The 36-year-old man was rushed to Wishaw General hospital for treatment.

The nature of the disturbance is yet to be confirmed.

Police confirmed the man has sustained serious injuries.

A spokeswoman from the force told the Record:"Police were called to reports of a disturbance at 10.15am on Monday.

"Police officers remain on the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

Detective Inspector Kenny Dalrymple of Wishaw Police Office said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage into the circumstances surrounding this incident, however at this stage we believe that the 36 year-old man was the intended victim.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area and are gathering CCTV footage to find out more information on this attack.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Albert Terrace around 9.45am this morning who witnessed this incident, or who has any information that will help our ongoing investigation.”
