Road policing officers say they have spotted a cyclist riding along a busy stretch of the M8 in Glasgow.
Police Scotland shared an image online showing a person on a bike travelling between traffic cones as cars pass on the motorway.
Officers have issued a warning stressing that cyclists and pedestrians are not allowed on motorways and that doing so presents a serious risk to all road users.
They described cyclists and pedestrians as vulnerable road users and urged people not to take the risk.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Tuesday 28th July 2026 #RoadPolicing officers from Glasgow spotted this cyclist on the #M8 motorway.
“For the avoidance of doubt: Cyclists Pedestrians For their own safety are not allowed on the motorway.
“Cyclists and pedestrians are vulnerable road users, and misuse of the motorway presents a significant risk to all.”
