Police launch witness appeal after trio attempt to steal cash machine from Co-op in Stockport

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a trio attempted to steal a cash machine from a Co-op in Stockport.

The three burglars forced entry through the shutter of the shop on Fulmar Drive, in Offerton.

They then attempted to steal a cash machine from inside the supermarket, but were unsuccessful.

The men then fled from the scene in a silver VW T-Cross, with the registration number MP19 WHE.

Co-op was shut at the time and no staff were present.

There have been no arrests and Greater Manchester Police continue to investigate.

The incident took place on Thursday, February 20, at around 10.30pm.

The three suspects are all believed to be men and were dressed in dark clothing.

Detective Constable Paul Garner of GMP’s Stockport District said: “Since this incident occurred we have been following numerous lines of enquiry to trace those responsible.

“We’re now appealing for the public’s help. Do you have any information that can assist our investigation?

“Were you in the area at the time or do you recognise the description of the car that the offenders were travelling in?

“If so, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact police on either 14727@gmp.police.uk or 0161 856 9923 quoting reference number 3430 of 20/02/2020. Alternatively, information can be passed on to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
