Police launch search for missing Cumbernauld man

Police in Cumbernauld have launched an appeal to help trace a missing 34-year-old man.

Andrew McMenemy was reported missing on Monday after returning from a trip to Birmingham.

Sergeant Steven Brown told Lanarkshire Live: “Andrew contacted his family around 8.55pm on Monday and at that time was thought to be in the Croy or Falkirk area having returned by train from a trip to Birmingham.

“He did not return home and has not been seen or heard from since and his family are concerned for his well-being.”

Andrew is described as white, around 5ft 10in, of slim build, with brown eyes, dark hair and a beard.

He has a number of piercings on his eyebrows, nose and ears and distinctive facial tattoos.

Sergeant Brown said his officers have been checking CCTV and carrying out searches of the local area in an effort to trace Andrew, and appealed to anyone with any information to “get in touch as soon as they can”.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
