Police launch probe into theft of lifeboat hero's bike stolen during emergency call

Cops are probing the theft of a bike from a dedicated Ayrshire lifeboat hero last week.

Evan Gallacher, 50, was out on an emergency call when his bike was snatched from his pick-up truck on Tuesday, June 1.

The Troon RNLI crew member told Ayrshire Live how he was "gutted" to discover it had been stolen.

Now officers are asking anyone who has information or may have seen the bike to get in touch.

The bike, described as a graphite grey Btwin, was stolen between 7.30pm and 9.20pm as the lifeboat crew rushed to a callout.

Evan, who is the station mechanic, dashed to get the boat ready for service whilst his bike was targeted outside the station on Harbour Road.

"Anyone who may have seen the bike or has any information in connection with the theft is asked to contact officers in Troon on 101, quoting reference UD00770621."
