Police launch probe into street brawl involving former Rangers star Nacho Novo

Police have launched a probe after a video showing Rangers legend Nacho Novo involved in a late-night street brawl went viral.

The footage shows a rammy outside a takeaway in Hunter Street in East Kilbride on Saturday.

Police say they are now conducting a criminal investigation after being alerted to the contents of the video.

Inspector Aidan Higgins, from East Kilbride Police Office, said: “We have not received any complaint regarding this incident which has been shared online, however we are now carrying out a criminal investigation and working to establish the circumstances.

"Any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist us should contact East Kilbride Police Office through 101 quoting incident number 3307 of March 9.”

It's understood Novo and some friends had been drinking in pubs around the area, which is a small paved district lined with pubs, restaurants and cafes.

The clip showed onlookers shouting "Nacho" as they tried to bring the scrap to an end.

A source said: "Nacho and his pals had been having a few drinks in the pubs nearby.

"There was a falling out with these other guys, words were exchanged and the whole thing happened from there.
