A man’s body was found in Blantyre this morning.

Residents reported police rushing to the scene near Station Road.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At around 7.55am on Thursday, November 7, the body of a man was discovered near Station Road, Blantyre.

“A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

One resident posted on social media: “Fire water rescue van towing the dingy just flew past me with sirens blaring on Almada Street.

“It was making its way down towards Burnbank, hope everything’s ok, hate seeing that, especially in this cold.

“Heard more sirens when I got into work as well.”

Another posted online: “It’s at Station Road, Blantyre, there are loads of police, fire engines, ambulances and two vans with the dingys.”
