Police launch probe after three cars were torched in Larkhall and Bellshill

Detectives are continuing enquiries after three cars were deliberately set on fire in Lanarkshire.

The first incident occurred on Saturday, April, 25, around 6.15pm when officers received a report that a Toyota van was on fire in Gilmour Place, Bellshill.

A further incident occurred around 6.30pm the same day when two cars, an Audi A5 and a Range Rover, parked within a driveway in Machan Road in Larkhall were set on fire. The vehicles suffered extensive damage.

No-one was injured in either incident. However, enquiries carried out so far indicate the incidents were targeted and officers are not ruling out that they could be linked.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries for any additional information.

Detective Inspector Paul Carruthers said: “All three vehicles were seized and are undergoing forensic examination. I am appealing to local residents in these areas to contact us with any information they may have, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

“If anyone has private CCTV footage or dash cam footage, I would ask them to check the footage as they could have captured information which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Airdrie Police Station via 101, quoting incident numbers 3561 and 3447. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
