Police launch probe after 'suspicious' car fire in Aberdeen

A probe has been launched following a car fire in Aberdeen with police treating the incident as “suspicious”.

Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 12am this morning at Valley Crescent in Aberdeen.

Fire fighters worked to extinguish the blaze while police carried out enquiries.

The full cause of the fire is not yet known but the incident is being treated as suspicious.

No one was injured in the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 0.08am on Thursday, March 11 to reports of a car on fire at Valley Crescent, Aberdeen.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene.

“Firefighters extinguished the fire and left after ensuring the area was made safe.

“There were no reported casualties.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called around 00.15am on Thursday, 11 March, 2021, to a report of a car on fire in the Valley Crescent area of Aberdeen. It is currently being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Anyone with information that may help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0022 of Thursday, 11 March.”
