Police launch probe into 'suspicious' death after man's body found in Blantyre flat

Police Scotland are treating the death of a man in Blantyre as "suspicious", a spokesman for the force has said.

Officers discovered the body of a man in a block of flats on Camelon Crescent in the early hours of Sunday morning.

has confirmed that "it was likely" a murder probe would be launched.

The grim discovery was made inside a property on the road, which is close to Calderside Nursery Centre and Calderside Acedemy.

Police remain on the scene as enquiries continue into the death.

It is understood that locals are being asked for any CCTV footage they have to help with the investigation.

A police spokesman told the Record “Police Scotland officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at an address in Camelon Crescent in Blantyre in the early hours of Sunday, October 27.”

Later a spokesperson told PA: "There is still a post mortem to be carried out to establish the cause of death but we are treating it as suspicious and it is likely a murder inquiry will be launched."
