Police launch probe after body found in River Spey

Police have launched an investigation after a body was found in the River Spey .

Officers, fire crews and paramedics all rushed to the river in Garmouth, Moray at around 2pm on Tuesday.

Police Scotland are now looking to identify the body pulled out of the water.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers were called to the River Spey at Garmouth at around 1.50pm on Tuesday, October 22, following a reported sighting of a possible body within the water.

“Emergency services attended the scene and a body was recovered from the water by rescue teams.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the person’s identity, and no further information will be given until their next of kin are aware.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
