Police have launched a murder inquiry after a young man was shot dead in south-west London.
Armed police were called to reports of a victim, in his 20s, suffering gunshot injuries in Bedford Hill, Balham at 10.50pm on Thursday.
Officers and medics attended and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at 11.30pm.
Scotland Yard has launched a murder investigation.
His next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing and there have been no arrests.
