Scotland Yard has launched a murder investigation after a 38-year-old man was shot dead in west London.

Police were called to the Vine Lane/Uxbridge junction with St Andrews Lane at about 7pm on Tuesday following reports of a shooting.

The victim, who was suffering from gunshot wounds when he was found by officers and paramedics from the Air Ambulance, was pronounced dead shortly before 8pm.

Police were in the process of informing next of kin on Tuesday evening, while a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

The investigation is being led by the Homicide and Major Crime Command based at Hendon. Anyone with information has been asked to call the incident room on 0208-358-0300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
