A manhunt has been launched to identify the driver of a white van who reportedly threw eggs at babies in prams.

Both incidents happened in Worcester. West Mercia Police said one happened near a retail park in the Tallow Hill area of the city. A suspect is said to have thrown eggs at a mother crossing the road with her baby.

The nine-month-old got a reddened face but was otherwise unharmed, the force said. The mother, in her 30s, was unharmed but left shaken.

It came shortly after another victim reported being hit by an egg in nearby Midland Road.

A man in his 30s "suffered minor injuries to his stomach" but his 15-month-old daughter was unharmed.

The incidents happened at about 11.30am on September 2. West Mercia Police today released a photograph of a van connected with them.

Sgt Paul Smith, from West Mercia Police, said: “We are continuing to appeal for witnesses and would particularly like to identify the owner of the white van pictured as we believe they may have vital information that could help with our enquiries.

“We will not tolerate senseless behaviour such as this and will continue to patrol the area to ensure incidents of this nature do not happen again.

Anyone who recognises the van is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 289s of September 2, 2019. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
