Police launch manhunt after woman sustains facial injuries in Ayr evening attack

Cops have launched a manhunt after a woman was left with facial injuries after being attacked in Ayr.

The victim, a 33-year-old, was assaulted by a man who approached her from behind at the steps at Sannox View, leading to Main Road, between 6.30pm and 7pm on Sunday, December 19.

The woman sustained injuries to her face which did not require medical attention at the time.

The male suspect is described as white and was wearing a black jacket with brown shoes at the time of the attack.

Police have today launched an urgent appeal for information.

PC David Murdoch said: "At this time we believe that this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the wider public.

"The area where the attack took place is residential and I am sure that someone will have either seen or heard something which will assist our enquiry.

“If you have any information that may help, then please call officers at Ayr Police Station via 101, quoting reference number 2487 of Sunday, 20 December, 2021.

"Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
