Police launch manhunt after terrifying armed robbery at Swansea newsagents

Police are the on the hunt for an armed robber following a terrifying raid on a newsagents.

Detectives received reports of a man brandishing a knife at the One Stop store in Pentregethin Road, Portmead , Swansea, on Saturday evening.

Officers said the thief ran out the shop clutching money and cigarettes. No-one was hurt in the incident, however the shop worker who was confronted by the thug was said to be shaken up.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "At 9.43pm on Saturday, January 4, a report was received of an armed robbery taking place at the One Stop shop, Pentregethin Road, Portmead, Swansea.

"The suspect, who had a knife, fled the scene in possession of money and tobacco."

Officers have since examined CCTV footage as well as made enquiries locally, but have since launched an appeal for information.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police added: "Enquiries are continuing in the area to identify and arrest the person responsible."
