Police launch manhunt after robbery at Ayr shop

Police detectives have launched a manhunt after an Ayrshire shop was robbed at the weekend.

Cops say a man entered a shop on Ayr's Prestwick Road yesterday at 8.20am and demanded cash before leaving with a two-figure sum of cash.

The assailant was last seen heading in the direction of Woodfield Avenue.

The suspect is described as being a white man, around 25-years-old, 5ft 9 with a skinny build. He was hearing a dark hooded top and dark bottoms, with white trainers.

Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch, from Ayr CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who was in the Prestwick Road area around 8am yesterday and witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward.

“If you have any information on this robbery, please call police on 101, quoting incident 1191 of August 15. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
