Police launch manhunt after 18-year-old woman grabbed late at night in Pontprennau, Cardiff

Police have launched a manhunt after an 18-year-old woman was grabbed by a man on a darkened road.

Detectives said the woman was walking alongside a grass verge on Pentwyn Road, Pontprennau, Cardiff , at around 11pm on Sunday, when the incident happened.

A passer-by managed to intervene and the suspect, who is described as being white, stocky with a shaved head, made off.

This comes just days after a woman was attacked in Bute Park, Cardiff. In that incident, a man grabbed the jogger's bottom in the attack when she was running through the park.

What happens after a crime is reported?

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "The victim although not injured was understandably shaken up. Extensive enquiries are on-going to identify and arrest the suspect."

South Wales Police are appealing for anyone with any information or those who may have witnessed the assault, which happened near the Waitrose store, to come forward.

Police are appealing for drivers who may have dash-cam footage who were in the area at the time to contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting occurrence number 416518.
