Police launch letterbox drop in Lightning Ridge to establish details of Christine Neilan's death

Christine Neilan's family, including daughter Julianne, right, just want justice.

The family of Christine Neilan, who was suspected to have been murdered in Lighting Ridge in January, have joined police in renewed calls for details behind her death.

Warning: The following story contains an image of a deceased Indigenous person.

The 39-year-old failed to return home from a morning walk on January 8.

Officers were called to bushland near Sunflash Street and Black Prince Drive the following day and discovered Ms Neilan's body.

A post-mortem determined she had died from serious head injuries.

Ms Neilan's daughter, Julianne, broke down as she appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"We just want one answer — who did this to our mum?" she said.

Ms Neilan, who was from Gulargambone, moved to Lightning Ridge in the state's north west late last year.

She was known to walk around the local area with her dog, Sookie.

Police said she was last seen wearing black shorts with an orange and blue short-sleeved shirt adorned with a unique pattern.

Police step up appeal

Today, police launched a letterbox drop in the town of Lightning Ridge to uncover more information about her death.

Homicide Squad Commander Danny Doherty said they needed a breakthrough.

"There has been some information coming from residents, but we urge anyone with information to come forward," he said.

"They may not think it's relevant to investigators, but that might just be the clue that we need."

Ms Neilan's daughter, Julianne, hoped the appeal would help find her mother's killer.

"I just don't understand how no-one has seen anything and no-one knows anything," she said.

"It's a small town and she was found so close to her house, so close to a main road."
