Police launch investigation after woman raped in Paisley street

Police have appealed for witnesses after a woman was raped in a Paisley street.

The 40-year-old victim was subjected to the horror sex attack in Oakshaw Street East at around 2am on Monday morning.

A man, 31, was arrested in connection with the incident but has been released pending further inquiries.

Detectives investigating the ordeal are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Inspector Ian Ross from the Rape Investigation Unit said: "I'm appealing to anyone who was in the area of Oakshaw Street East between midnight and 2am on Monday morning, who witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone with information that may assist this investigation to come forward.

"Also, anyone driving on this road with dash-cam footage should contact officers."
