Police launch investigation after victim assaulted before getting on a bus to East Kilbride

A police investigation has been launched after a 36-year-old man was assaulted before getting on a bus to East Kilbride.

The victim is not thought to have serious injuries but attended Hairmyres Hospital from the bus station yesterday evening.

A large police presence could be seen in the town centre with parts of the bus station cordoned off.

It is understood he was attacked in the Hamilton area before getting on a First Bus service to East Kilbride where the alarm was raised.

Inspector Stephen McGovern said: "Police were called to East Kilbride bus station after reports of the victim getting off a First service having been assaulted in the Hamilton area.

"Officers attended and enquiries are ongoing with ourselves working alongside the bus company and colleagues in Hamilton."

First were contacted for comment.
