Police launch investigation after gunshots fired at house in Blackley

Police have launched an investigation after gunshots were fired at a house in Blackley.

Damage was caused to the property on Fotherby Drive after 'several' shots were fired at around 12.15am on Thursday 10 September.

The occupants were inside the house at the time of the shooting, but are not believed to have been injured.

Detectives say they are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured vehicle driving along French Barn Lane in the direction of Plant Hill Road.

A police cordon remained at the scene on Thursday afternoon, with a police car guarding the entrance to the small cul-de-sac.

One local resident, who didn't want to be named, reported hearing seven shots fired at the house at around midnight.

Another neighbour said they heard a loud bang in the early hours of the morning.

Nobody has been arrested.

Detective Inspector Claire Moss of GMP's City of Manchester Division, said: "Thankfully, those inside the property were left uninjured but I want to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone with any information or who may have been in the area at the time to come forward and assist us in our enquiries.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or have dash-cam footage of anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time or may have seen a dark coloured vehicle, driving along French Barn Lane in the direction of Plant Hill Road.

"Whilst this incident may cause concern within the community, I would like to take this opportunity to stress that we believe there to be no wider threat to the public and we are doing the up most to locate those responsible."

The incident is not believed to be linked to Operation Haemus - the response to the ongoing dispute between two local gangs in Cheetham Hill, the M.E.N understands.

Since September 2019,  there have been a series of attacks caused by the feud.

Anyone with any information should contact police on 0161 856 61146 quoting incident number 38 of 10/09/20. Details can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
