Police launch investigation after body found at property in Llantwit Major

Police are investigating after the body of a man was found at a house in Llantwit Major.

The body of a 50-year-old man was found at a property in the town centre, South Wales Police has confirmed.

Officers said the death is currently being treated as "unexplained." They have not yet specified which street the body was found.

However, the force said a cordon remained in place on Sunday morning as enquiries were ongoing.

Photos from the scene show a police cordon in place at Pound Field, Llantwit Major precinct, around a shop named 'Sloan & Co'. There is also thought to be a flat above the shop.

An eyewitness at the scene said forensic officers were entering the property through a back garden. They said that the cordon goes around the shop, up the walk through to the park and around the back of the property.

At least one police van remains at the scene as investigations continue.

In a post on social media, South Wales Police said: "We are investigating the death of a 50 year-old man after a body was discovered in a property in central Llantwit Major.

"The death is being treated as unexplained. A cordon is in place and enquiries are continuing."
