Detectives have launched an investigation after a nightclub bouncer was assaulted for refusing entry to a group of men.

The men approached the front door of the Wyld Club in Mayfair at 1.15am on Monday but were refused entry due to a previous incident earlier on.

Following a discussion with the security guard, outside the Park Lane venue, one of the men suddenly punched the victim twice in the face, causing him to fall to the floor.

The attack has left him with serious facial injuries which may mean he loses sight in one eye.

Detective Ryan Wilson said: “This was a cowardly attack on a member of security staff who has been left with a significant injury that could have an impact on the rest of his life.

“No-one should expect to be subject to this kind of assault for simply doing their job. It is completely unacceptable and we are now putting all of our efforts into finding the individual responsible for this attack.

“We are very keen to speak to the man in this image – it is a very clear photograph and we are confident that someone will recognise him and be able to provide us with his details.

“Any information will be treated in strict confidence.”
