Police launch CCTV appeal after man's money stolen from Aldi cash machine

Police want to speak to this woman in connection with a cashpoint theft at a Sunderland supermarket.

The incident happened when a 57-year-old man was withdrawing money from an ATM at Aldi at 12.40pm on Wednesday, May 29.

The man sought assistance from a member of staff after the cash failed to dispense from the machine.

While speaking to staff, the money was dispensed and taken by another member of the public.

Police are treating the incident as a theft and are carrying out inquiries to identify the person responsible.

Officers have now released an image of a woman they wish to speak to who was in the Carley Hill Road store at the time the theft took place.

The man, or anyone who knows their identity, is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting crime number 068118V/19.
