A life ring was set on fire in Balloch Park in an act police described as “completely irresponsible”.
Officers are carrying out enquiries after it was set alight at around 5pm on September 17 near to the boat slip.
A police spokesperson said: “These items have been provided through the tireless work of many in order to save lives and the actions of these individuals is completely irresponsible.
“If anyone can assist police with their enquiries can they please contact them, (anonymously), 101, citing incident number 2530 Crimestoppers on 0800555111.”
